A neuron is a nerve cell that is the basic building block of the nervous system. Neurons are specialized to
transmit information throughout the body. These highly specialized nerve cells are responsible for
communicating information in both chemical and electrical forms.
Parts of Neuron:
There I would tell you name 6 important parts of neuron:
Neurons (also known as neurons, nerve cells and nerve fibers) are electrically excitable
cells in the nervous system that function to process and transmit information. In vertebrate
animals, neurons are the core components of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves.
Type of Neuron:
1. Sensory neurons
2. Motor neurons
3. Interneurons
All three have different functions, but the brain needs all of them to communicate effectively
with the rest of the body.
1. Unipolar
2. Bipolar
3. Multipolar
4. Pseudounipolar.
Unipolar neurons have only one structure extending from the soma; bipolar neurons have one
axon and one dendrite extending from the soma.
Importance of Neuron:
Neurons are specialized to transmit information throughout the body. These highly
specialized nerve cells are responsible for communicating information in both chemical and
electrical forms. Sensory neurons carry information from the sensory receptor cells throughout
the body to the brain.
